System requirements

What Basegrid needs

Basegrid runs inside SketchUp Pro on Windows or Mac. You need SketchUp Pro 2024 or later. SketchUp 2023 and older cannot load the extension.

Your computer

Draft. These numbers come from our own testing and may change before release. A full house is about 22,000 drawn parts, so memory and single-core speed matter most.

MinimumRecommended
MacApple silicon (M1 or later), 16 GB memory, macOS 13 or laterM2 Pro, M3 or newer, 32 GB memory
PC processorRecent Intel Core i5 or AMD Ryzen 5Intel Core i7 or AMD Ryzen 7, 2022 or newer

Not supported: computers with 8 GB of memory, and PCs with only built-in graphics (Intel UHD and similar). Laptops are fine if they meet the numbers. SketchUp 2027 needs Windows 11 on a PC and Apple silicon on a Mac.

AI apps

Basegrid works without an AI app. To draw and edit by asking, connect one of these. They are the only ones we support for now.

  • Claude. A paid Claude plan (Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise). The free plan cannot add custom connectors.
  • ChatGPT. A paid ChatGPT plan with Developer mode turned on. ChatGPT gets the job tools and the modelling tools, because the full set is too large for it.
  • Cursor. The Cursor desktop app. Add Basegrid as a remote MCP server and sign in when Cursor opens the browser. Cursor gets the job tools and the modelling tools, because it stops at about 40 tools across all its servers.
  • Grok. A Grok account that can add custom connectors at grok.com. Grok gets the full set. If Grok struggles with it, use the Fallback URL instead.

Once you are signed in, the connector addresses are under Connections in the Basegrid portal.
